Sat Nam and Greetings from Anandpur Sahib!
In the Spirit of Khalsa, in the home of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Women of Anandpur Sahib celebrated the Gurpurb Season with remembrance of the events of sacrifice, bravery, fearlessness, courage and absolute merging with the Infinite. Celebrations taking place November through January included the singing of shabads in nagar kirtan-style through the streets, walking to Sangat homes in the Amrit Vela where chanting continued, and sharing a light snack of pakorey and tea Langar, gracefully served. Through our Sikh History, the teachings left by our Gurus and the example and remembrance of their lives are our Foundation of Khalsa for the future.
In Anandpur Sahib, we’ve had a more than a dozen remembrances of Khalsa events celebrated in this way over the past few months. The Sangat gathers at the feet of Takhat Kesgarh Sahib in the Amrit Vela, and we walk home-to-home to chant & infuse each home with the Guru’s presence through kirtan. The Sangat is blessed in each home and each household receives the reciprocal blessing by the gathering of Sadh Sangat. The women’s voices are heard, their families are with them, chanting through the streets, and it is very divine.
In Anandpur Sahib, at Siri Singh Sahib Ji’s home, Dashmesh Sadan, we were blessed to invite the Women’s Sangat of Anandpur to come… I could feel him smiling on us all. Everyone was grateful for the darshan of Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in our home Gurdwara, enjoyed Guru ka Langar in the early hours, and ‘experiencing’ the Siri Singh Sahib Ji’s presence, and the legacy of Khalsa coming ‘Home.’
Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa! Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh!
