Sat Nam! I heard about Guru Tej Singh for the first time in 1989 when I was a member of a University grant committee where both of us were professors. At that time he was the Director of the Faculty of Engineering and a very impressive Professor and researcher with his PhD in Physics of Vibration from MIT. Two decades later he become the President of the University.
Time unfolds itself and one day I was teaching a seminar about the mind and right in the middle of it, a gentleman got up in utmost enthusiasm and started correlating everything that the Siri Singh Sahib had put together on that subject with his own research field. His premise was really brilliant and he had a very insightful approach and an unusual and exciting parallel between those two. That was the first time Guru Tej Singh came to our Ashram and since then he has been a solid presence in the Belo Horizonte Sangat.
This Dharma became part of his life as he became a Kundalini Yoga teacher level 1 and 2. Guru Tej Singh isn’t alone in his dedication to our sangat. He and his wife, Simran Kaur, work hand in hand with us on many levels. Here you can see Guru Tej, Simran and their son Guru Singh, on the day Guru Tej held a talk about “Vibrations of Solid Structures” as part of our ABAKY (Brazilian Association of Friends of Kundalini Yoga) Colloquium Program. You can well imagine what a wonderful evening that was and how well the teachings of Siri Singh Sahib Ji matched the scientific approach he brought around.
Today I would like to share with you the most important Seva he has been diligently doing, which has become such a blessing to us and will change forever the impact of Siri Singh Sahib’s Legacy on Brazilian soil.
Guru Tej Singh is a member of ABAKY Council (forth person from left on the first sitting row), which congregates representatives of different cities from Brazil. Two years ago, this Council decided to work towards the creation of a school that would protect and promote Siri Singh Sahib’s views on how education should be implemented. So, the School Miri Piri Brazil was then born to serve as that platform in preparing children based on the Guru’s Teachings and to be a link for our children with Miri Piri Academy.
He embraced this task with such love and dedication! His natural inclination to education, his expertise in administering universities, his long experience with national and international boards of science and education is making an enormous difference in the way we are preparing the initial phase of our school, such as the pilot programs, the fund raising, consulting strategies as well as marketing and financial activities.
His dedication to building our school and the way he gave this project priority for the next decade of his life, fills us up with hope and faith that we will be victorious.
This school will change the way education is seen in Brazil and it will be an example of education reaching all with no discrimination of any kind, where poor and rich children will sit together, learn and create an experience. Teachers and ministers may come and go, but the School will remain solid, spreading its light into every family in this region of the globe.
Guru Tej Singh’s voice and work is adding to our collective efforts for an educational system that carries a healing touch and makes a difference. We need this School to open up its door for poor children and rich children equally so that they can together discover a more prosperous, dignified and successful life. And that would not be possible without Guru Tej Singh’s seva. Wahe Guru!
