This Fall, the Siblings of Destiny meetings seemed special. There was an inspiring and fresh feeling in the Khalsa-filled room. We covered many issues such as the latest news from the lawsuit, or ways to spread the teachings further and in a better way, while our main themes were forgiveness and stepping into our role as leaders. This gave the meetings a deep healing opportunity that moved us forward beyond our group pain.
Our purpose became clear: to serve in the best possible way, as one. The Hopi proverb “We are the Ones we’ve been waiting for” set the tone of our discussions, and reinforced our need to focus on serving beyond individual agendas or issues of the past. One of the highlights from the ‘Raising Spirit and Community’ focus group was the idea of a mentorship program to support the next generation as teachers, healers, Kirtanees, and leaders of this Dharma. Through it, those with more experience can pass on their wisdom to the next generations to build upon.
As a support to this program, we planned to organize traveling groups that would go to different communities to help spread the teachings and strengthen the world-wide Sangats. Whether through Kirtan, teaching yoga or gatka, healing, or even organizing langars, these groups would combine efforts with local communities to inspire Sangat spirit.
People were so inspired by this opportunity to incorporate people from all generations that it was suggested that members of the next generation help with organizing half a day of our agenda of the next Siblings of Destiny meeting. A lot of passion for our future was sparked. The meetings were inspiring and a seed was planted. The next steps have begun for our worldwide Sangat to unite our efforts. So, come and connect. Bring suggestions, concerns and hopes. It is time. Let’s serve the role called for in this age, as the ones we’ve been waiting for.
